35 held in Central raids

THIRTY-FIVE persons were arrested on Thursday during a series of raids and searches carried out by officers of Central Division. Several drug dens were raided and a quantity of drugs seized. Officers executed a search warrant at Enterprise Village in Chaguanas and arrested a 25-year old man. They also seized a quantity of marijuana. The officers then raided two shops at Las Lomas and seized a quantity of alcoholic beverages. Two women ages 53 and 37 were arrested.

At Lawrence Wong Road in Longdenville, a search warrant was executed and a man was held with a quantity of cocaine. The exercise was led by Crime Insp Hubert Kirk and included Sgt Sylvester, acting Sgts Ajith Persad, Danny Ramlogan, Cpl Aguilerra, and PCs Toolaram, and Langley. Also on Thursday, officers of the Inter Agency Task Force arrested 12 persons for a series of robberies and shootings in Laventille. Officers led by Snr Supt Errol Denoon and acting Insp Sahadeo Singh carried out searches in Laventille and surrounding areas, where they arrested the 12 suspects. Those arrested will appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate on Monday. The exercises form part of the anti-crime initiative launched by Police Commissioner Trevor Paul.
