Arouca cops seek help to solve road death

AROUCA police are calling for the public’s assistance in identifying the car and its driver which killed a man walking on the Churchill Roosevelt Highway yesterday morning. According to a police report, around 4 am police received a report of a body lying on the highway between the Piarco Junction and the Maloney Housing. The body has been identified as Stanley Bourne, 54, of Swallow Tail Avenue, Bon Air Gardens, Arouca. Bourne, a mason, celebrated his 54th birthday last month. Bourne, who was ill, left his home Wednesday and was reported missing by his family the next day. When Newsday visited the family home, relatives described him as a doting father and Christian, who loved life and expressed anguish at his passing.

“He took care of his children for 15 years after their mother migrated and was now looking to enjoy life, although he was diagnosed in December as possibly suffering from alzheimers disease or a tumor. He was supposed to have undergone a MRI on Tuesday,” said relatives. “His plan was to travel soon to see his wife whom he had not seen in 15 years and his son in four years. We realise his condition and do not blame anyone.” The father of six will be buried on Wednesday. When contacted, police confirmed they had recovered debris from car parts at the scene. They are calling on anyone with information to contact the Arouca police at 640-6138. Cpl Figaro is continuing inquiries.
