Cable vandals strike hundreds of Couva customers

Over 400 customers in Couva are at present without telephone service as a result of vandals cutting and stealing a major section of TSTT cables in Milton, Couva yesterday. Residents in Milton, Basta Hall and Caroline Village are un-able to make or receive calls or use Internet services as a result. According to a re-lease, TSTT has begun mobilising crews to replace the stolen section of cable. However, due to the extent of the problem, service to customers will be restored by 4 pm tomorrow. TSTT apologised for the inconvenience and urged the public to call Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477) if they have information about this or any other incidents of cable theft, the release stated.
