Despers launches double CD

IN AN atmosphere of euphoria, Chaconia Gold Medal recipient WITCO Desperadoes Steel Orchestra launched its double CD compilation of memorable musical works at the Bois Cano Patio, Kapok Hotel, Maraval on Friday evening. “The Best of Desperadoes - A Musical Volcano,” is the title given to the latest endeavour by the legendary Laventille-based conventional steelband.

Desperadoes is arguably the most decorated steel orchestra in the world, having won the National Panorama title ten times and being the only conventional steel orchestra to achieve a hattrick of  wins at the Steelband Music Festival competition - which includes capturing the first World Steelband Music Festival title. The latest musical offering consists of renditions of all those winning performances. Government officials, sponsor representatives, movers and shakers in the music industry as well as well-wishers gathered at the venue to witness the occasion at which Desperadoes delighted all with its live performances of its past Panorama selection “Rebecca” and other popular songs in its repertoire.
