Chandra’s family has faith in TT justice
MEMBERS of the Maharajh family of Ontario, Canada, say recent developments in the case involving the June 1994 murder of Dr Chandra Maharajh-Naraynsingh has only added to the sadness and distress they have endured. However, they say they will “keep faith” in the Trinidad and Tobago justice system. In a statement issued over the weekend, relatives of the slain doctor said: “It is with keen interest that the Maharajh family views the recent developments in the untimely death of our daughter and sister Chandra.
“For the last ten years, we have grieved quietly for our loved one, the grief made more significant because of the lack of closure brought on by the horrific nature of her death, and the fact that we have had no answers as to why her life was ended in such a brutal way.” The family said they derive no pleasure from recent developments in the case, since it neither lessens their grief nor fills the emptiness caused by Maharajh-Naraynsingh’s passing. However, they said their faith remained steadfast that those who commissioned “her assassination would be made to account for their actions.” The family said their prayers and thoughts are always with their granddaughter and niece, Anamika.
