Piparo woman and two foreigners in $10M drug bust

A 26-year-old Piparo woman and two others, nationals of Colombia and Venezuela, were arrested yesterday with 30 kilos of cocaine worth ten million dollars, by members of the Organised Crime and Narcotics Unit (OCNU). According to the police, around 10 am, acting on information and after weeks of observation, members of the OCNU intercepted a car in the Gulf City carpark and, on conducting a search, found the cocaine packed neatly in the trunk.

The drugs, which are believed to have come into the country some time ago, were being taken to another point for distribution. The Colombian, 30, and the Venezuelan, 44, both males, are expected to appear with the local woman before a Port-of-Spain magistrate today charged with possession of illicit drugs for trafficking. The matter will then be transferred to a southern court. The exercise, coordinated by Snr Supt Craig, included Supt Corerria, ASP Edwards and WPC Sgt Bishop.
