BWIA back on schedule

One week after being warned by Prime Minister Patrick Manning to come up with a viable strategy to prevent baggage losses and flight delays, BWIA on Friday ensured that there were no hiccups in its flight arrangements. All flights that were scheduled to leave Trinidad Friday were on time. Departure flights to  Margarita, Guyana, Toronto, Barbados, Miami and the five flights to Tobago were all on schedule. Although there was one delayed flight arriving from Tobago, the other incoming flights from New York, Margarita, Guyana, Barbados and Miami were all on time.

BWIA officials assured that throughout the New Year’s weekend, there will be  “smooth” movement of flights to and from Trinidad. They were unable to say, however, if there were any reports of lost baggage. All calls to the airline’s Corporate Communications Manager, Dionne Ligore, were unanswered. Last week scores of disgruntled BWIA passengers were left stranded at the Piarco airport as flights from Toronto and Miami were delayed. Baggage were also lost, causing all perishable foods to rot.
