Cheryl Ankrah no longer Miss TT Universe

In a surprise announcement yesterday, Peter Elias and Associates, holder of the Miss Universe local franchise, stated that Cheryl Ankrah, winner of  the local leg of the Miss Trinidad and Tobago pageant is no longer TT’s representative for the upcoming Miss Universe 2005 pageant, scheduled to take place in Thailand on June 1. Speaking on behalf of the pageant company, Elias said “We regret that Cheryl will not represent us for Miss Universe, but it was a case of her simply being unable to fulfil her duties. As such, the committee will meet soon, after which a suitable replacement will be announced.” A delegate’s duties include following an itinerary of classes and training courses necessary for their development. Ankrah was supposed to leave Trinidad for Thailand in late May. She is currently in London and could not be reached for comment.
