CD to preserve memory of Dr Williams
THE Eric Williams Memorial Committee, headed by Reginald Vidale, wants to ensure that the memory of this country’s first Prime Minister lives on. The Committee has released a CD of the famous speech made by Dr Williams during a children’s rally at the Queen’s Park Oval when Trinidad and Tobago gained Independence in 1962.
The CD also features the national song, “God Bless Our Nation”, sung by Mavis John. Vidale said the Committee plans to distribute copies of the CD to as many schools as possible, so students will know about Dr Williams. A copy was recently presented to Newtown Girls RC School. “The CD should be played in schools, and I am sure it will go a long way in bringing back the kind of discipline known in Doctor Williams’ day,” said Vidale.
