Teacher fined for stolen SIM cards

A PRIMARY school teacher and a TTEC employee were among six men who pleaded guilty last Friday in the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court to receiving stolen goods following a break-in at TSTT’s Tobago offices in May 2004. Marlon Thomas, of Dennette Trace, Mason Hall; Shem Thomas, a teacher, of Canaan Feeder Road, Lowlands; Purnell Livea, of Cinammon Hill, Scarborough; Collins Mitchell, of Sheep Pen Trace, Glamorgan; Kassell Walters, of Pump Mill, Scarborough; and Dave Nelson, a TTEC employee of Mt Marie, Scarborough — were ordered to pay fines of $500 immediately or serve three months in jail with hard labour.

They were also ordered to pay $250 in compensation to TSTT by Scarborough Magistrate Joan Gill.  Charges in the matter were laid by Detective Alicia Piggott, of the Old Grange Police Station. The six men admitted to possession of SIM cards stolen from TSTT’s Scarborough Customer Service outlet. Meanwhile, another man, Jason Seaforth, of Scarborough, who was charged with receiving a stolen cell phone, was remanded in custody and will reappear in court tomorrow.
