TT Carnival on BET again
THE Ministry of Tourism has for the second time, teamed up with BET Digital Networks to produce and air a documentary on Trinidad and Tobago Carnival, to be seen by over 85 million viewers. BET has contracted Megan Good, the star of the UPN hit comedy Girlfriends to host the one hour documentary, together with AJ Callaway of BET’s 106 & Park. Good has also starred in Biker Boys and Deliver Us From Eva, as well as the eerie family drama Eve’s Bayou for which she received an NAACP Image Award and a Hollywood Reporter nomination.
In a release the ministry said Good is expected to arrive in Trinidad today and will spend four days here, playing mas in a popular band to experience firsthand the festival, dubbed the Greatest Show on Earth. Cybelle Brown, vice president sales and marketing of BET Jazz and BET Event Productions, said the network, “is very excited about the wonderful programming that this alliance has brought to our channels.” She said last year’s documentary “thrilled many of our viewers and we are looking forward to creating an even more exciting and appealing show from Carnival 2005.”
The documentary is expected to be seen by over 85 million international households comprising a diverse viewing audience. Like last year’s documentary, this one will also be broadcast several times for the year on BET TV channel and on BET Jazz. It will showcase the energy, colour and pageantry of Trinidad’s Carnival, as well as explore the range of festivals that make TT a unique Carib-bean tourist destination.
