Over-crowded pan-up crashes
A pick-up crowded with people on their way into Port-of-Spain to witness Carnival celebrations, crashed yesterday in a drain along the Priority Bus Route in the vicinity of the traffic lights opposite the Coconut Growers Association, Eastern Main Road, Laventille. According to information, around 9.30 am the pick-up was proceeding south across the PBR when the driver pulled away from a maxi taxi travelling west. The pick-up lost control and plunged into the drain, landing on its hood with the four tyres in the air. The passengers in the tray of the vehicle and those inside, luckily escaped without injury. They were carried to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where they were examined and then discharged.
