House broken down in St Ann’s
After residing at an Ariapita Road house in St Ann’s for 20 years, the Bonaparte family has been left out in the cold after the house was destroyed by five men and a woman during the early hours of yesterday morning. Patrick Bonaparte and family were shocked when a "bailiff" and other persons threw the family’s garments and furniture out in the yard and demolished the house. "I was at work, and when I came home I couldn’t believe it," Bonaparte told Newsday. Bonaparte said the land was left to him by his now deceased father, Andrew Bonaparte. The owner of a house on their land is now deceased, and the deceased’s son has ordered them off the land. "I have a deed for the land, and it was probated by a lawyer," Bonaparte said. Marlene Stephens, a member of the family, said they were at home when the men came to the house. The children were unable to attend classes and other family members who were at work rushed home to see what took place. "Two police officers were patrolling the area when they saw what was happening, and they stopped ‘breaking’ the house," she said. The family said they would be reporting the incident to the Belmont Police Station, and seeking advice from an attorney.
