Woman slits man’s throat
A MATURA man was hospitalised, treated and later discharged after his throat was slit by an angry relative. Andrew Coossalal, 50, of Toco Main Road, Matura had to be treated for the injury to his neck shortly after midday yesterday following an argument with a female relative. Police said the incident took place following a domestic squabble over money when an unemployed 45-year-old woman grabbed a kitchen knife and dealt the Matura labourer one chop across his neck. The female attacker accused Coossalal of using her money and not paying her back, police said. The bleeding man, tied a piece of cloth around his neck and ran to the nearby Matura police from where he was rushed to the Sangre Grande police station where an emergency operation was performed to stop the bleeding. The injured man was later released. Investigations revealed that the couple had a history of violence.
