Acting President — new 9-times Granny
ACTING PRESIDENT of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr Linda Baboolal has become a grandmother for the ninth time. According to a statement from the Office of the President yesterday, Dr Baboolal and her husband Michael received news of the birth of their grandson Samuel Michael Baboolal on Tuesday in Bolton, England. The baby is the second child of Anand and Natasha Baboolal. This is the second grandson and the ninth grandchild for Dr Baboolal and her husband.
Dr Baboolal was appointed on Monday to act as President during the absence of President George Maxwell Richards from TT. The President is out of the country on official business and is expected to return home on July 25. The appointment was made in accordance with Section 27 (1) of the Constitution. During Dr Baboolal’s absence from the Senate, Magna Williams-Smith has been appointed a temporary Government senator with effect from July 5, on the advice of Prime Minister Patrick Manning and in accordance with Sections 40 and 44 of the Constitution.
