$6.2M for Tobago education
A TOTAL of $8.9 million has been allocated to education and training in Tobago during this fiscal year. This was stated in the Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP) for Tobago. Of that amount, $2.3 million will be invested at the primary school level for the construction of the Scarborough RC, the extension and improvement to Bon Accord Government, Plymouth AC, St Patrick’s AC, Lambeau AC and L’Anse Fourmi Methodist. In addition, improvement works will proceed on the Signal Hill Government, Moriah Government and Delaford AC. At the secondary level, $3.9 million has been allocated for the construction of the Mason Hall Government Secondary, the reconstruction of the Scarborough Secondary School, the extension and improvement of the Bishop’s High School, Roxborough Composite and Signal Hill Comprehensive School. Library facilities will also be provided. Construction of the school for the deaf on the sister island is also earmarked to start during this fiscal year at a cost of $.4 million for the designs. At the tertiary level, work will commence on the Tobago campus of the University of Trinidad and Tobago, with the allocation of $1 million for the preparation of designs.
