Man who beheaded Koury to turn State witness
The man suspected of decapitating businessman Dr Eddie Koury is negotiating with the authorities to become a State witness in the matter. According to reports, the man who claimed to have beheaded the doctor out of fear, has provided key information to the police which led to the arrest of six Tobagonians, five currently residing in England, two Trinidadians, an ex-policeman and a relative of one of the foreign-based Tobagonians. The man also claimed he was promised a visa by the killers to go to Egypt in order to learn Islam. Another Tobagonian residing in Tunapuna was also charged with the murder. The six Tobagonians, five of whom are members of a fundamental Muslim group, were arrested in a house at La Florescent, D’Abadie, and will reappear before a Tunapuna magistrate on October 5 on murder and related charges. The sixth Tobagonian, who was brought back from St Vincent, will also face the charges. Koury was fatally stabbed at his Macoya businessplace on September 23, and his body thrown in a car trunk. Sometime later, the body was beheaded. Koury’s head was reportedly wrapped in a plastic bag and thrown into the murky waters near Mosquito Creek, while his body was left in bushes at Caparo. Meanwhile, police are investigating the murder link to the $700 million drug bust at Monos Island and Koury’s recent trip to Colombia. Koury’s head is still missing.
