Cop shoots himself
A policeman attached to the Special Branch accidentally shot himself while cleaning his personal firearm. The policeman, Terrance Nabbie, was at a friend’s home in Princes Town when the incident occurred at 8 pm on Wednesday. According to a police report, Nabbie, 44, of Herreira Street, St Joseph’s Village, San Fernando, sustained a gunshot wound in the palm of his left hand. The report stated that Nabbie was cleaning his firearm while sitting in the living room of the home of his friend — Aldwyn Neptune — at Monkey Town Third Branch Road, Moruga. The report stated that a single round of ammunition accidentally went off and Nabbie was struck in the left palm. The bullet exited through the back of his hand. Nabbie was rushed to the Princes Town Health Facility for medical treatment. He was then transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital where he was treated. Up to yesterday, the policeman was warded in a satisfactory condition. Sgt Errol Ramdath of the Princes Town Police Station is investigating.
