Kumar Sanu reveals big surprise coming in January
India’s top singing sensation Kumar Sanu yesterday said that a big surprise package is coming to Trinidad in January. In an interview with Newsday yesterday at the studios of Radio 90.5 FM at Valpark Shopping Plaza, Valsayn, Sanu noted that he is presently working on a presentation for the fans from the Caribbean and the Americas. Sanu is one of ten stars from India who will be performing at the mega Bollywood Music Awards at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Woodbrook, tomorrow, from 8 pm. The others who made the trip are Sunidhi Chauhan, Udit Narayan, Babul Suprivo, Shankar Mahadevan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Anuradha Sriram, Jaspinder Narul, Amir Jamal and a guest artiste who is to be a surprise performer. Sanu has already made his mark in the Guinness Book of Records for recording 12,000 songs in the 21 different languages of India. He told Newsday that he is producing a film entitled, Uthaan (Upliftment of The Man), which will be released in this country in February 2006. His musical production of Mausam is expected to be released in India in January. "I have reached the peak of my singing career. And I am now into producing films that carry meaningful stories and equally beautiful songs in them," he said. He described it as a gift to the people of the western world who have been following East Indian culture for many years. He agrees that there are a lot of changes taking place in the music and film industry in India, but his observations are the basic musical raagas (notes) remain the same. He also agrees that the fans are now into family drama and love songs instead of the fast beat songs that were taking over the film industry within recent times. Sanu, who is one of the most popular playback singers for the Bollywood Film Industry in India, is also well known in TT. His songs are played in all eight East Indian-based radio stations on a daily basis. Many local singers imitate his voice as singers of East Indian songs. Sanu performed for the eighth time in this country on Saturday at the Centre of Excellence in Macoya. The Bollywood Music Awards is produced by Kamal Dandona (chairman of the Bollywood Group of Companies) and Anthony Maharaj (film producer/director and CEO of CL Communications).
