THA leader supports PNM infighting
IN WHAT many political observers say are the first public signs of “friction” within the Tobago PNM, Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Chief Secretary and PNM Deputy Political Leader (Tobago Affairs) Orville London has stated that he supported infighting within the party. He also said there was “nothing wrong” with anyone wanting to take his job. The Tobago PNM/THA leader made this clear to none other than the PNM membership in the island during the party’s annual conference at Signal Hill Secondary Comprehensive School last week.
Addressing the comparatively small crowd — the many empty chairs were an indication of the infighting said to be rooted within the Tobago East constituency among some “oldsters” who reportedly feel threatened by the influx of ambitious, youthful “PNMites,” London detailed a ten-point guideline within which party members should always operate. Outlining the final point, he asserted, “We belong to the PNM family and you must treat your colleagues as family members.”
