2 held after toy gun robbery


TWO men of Diego Martin and San Juan are assisting police in their investigations into a number of robberies in and around the Barataria area.


The investigation comes after the arrest of the men — 19 and 17 years old respectively — after a high-speed chase along Tenth Avenue, Barataria.


According to reports, a Barataria man was liming with his friends in front Naries Pub, Ninth Avenue and Eleventh Street, Barataria, when the two men came up with a gun and demanded the keys to his car. The gunmen then sped off.


The victim and his friends left the pub to file a report at the Barataria Police Station. At the same time, officers of the Barataria Police Station were on patrol along Tenth Avenue, when they spotted the car going the wrong way on a one-way street.


A chase ensued and the vehicle stopped. When the vehicle was searched, a toy 9 mm pistol was found. The men were then arrested. Cpl Primdass of the Barataria Police Station is investigating.
