Hazel’s Christmas gifts stolen
Thieves broke into the office of Education Minister Hazel Manning and escaped with four figurines which were part of Christmas presents given to the minister. The thieves also escaped with a manicure set, a cooler, a bottle of wine, a quantity of glasses, eight bags belonging to the Ministry of Education, and two toe rings. Police reports revealed that Louinia Cumberbatch, the minister’s executive secretary, secured the office on December 23 and left. She returned yesterday and noticed the items missing. Two of the figurines were two men beating steelpan and the other two were two men digging sand with spades. A door at the Ministry of Education at Alexandra Street was forced open by thieves to gain entry. Yesterday, a report on the incident was submitted to Manning. PC Edmund Sanoir visited the scene along with fingerprint experts. Police investigators interviewed staff at the Ministry of Education and investigations are continuing.
