Man killed on daughter’s 18th birthday


PLANS to celebrate her 18th birthday turned to sorrow, when Shasha Acres’ found out that her father had been murdered.


Whe Whe punter and father of two, Anthony Clement, 35, alias Belch, was shot dead after collecting money from Whe Whe winnings.


According to reports, Clement and a friend were walking east along Gofor Trace near Pitch Road, Morvant, when he was confronted by two gunmen. Both men ran as shots were fired.


Clement fell with a bullet wound at the back of his head, while his friend escaped. The gunmen then walked up to Clement and fired two more shots before searching his pockets and relieving him of the cash.


Police were called in and cordoned off the area in an unsuccessful search for the gunmen


When Newsday visited the family’s Woods Alley home, the victim’s mother Lorena David described her son as a good person.


"He was not involved in crime or gang. He simply played his Whe Whe and hustled whenever he could.


Visiting the scene were ASP Cummings, Insps Koon Koon and Hilaire, Cpl Vidale, PCs Abraham and des Vignes and Cpls Parks and Lucas of the Homicide Bureau, who are investigating.
