Moruga man dies in crash
MORUGA resident Nigel Hamilton, 33, was killed almost instantly when the pick-up van he was driving, was involved in a head-on collision with a car along the M1 Ring Road in Princes Town yesterday. Hamilton, of Sixth Company Village, Moruga was pronounced dead at the scene while the other driver, Rolita Neptune, was up to last night in critical condition at hospital. According to a police report, at about 2.30 pm, Hamilton, a father of one, was proceeding north along the M1 Ring Road in his white pick-up van. Neptune was travelling in the opposite direction in a gold Almera, when she crashed head-on into Hamilton’s van.
Hamilton’s relatives cried at the scene as firemen removed his body from the van. The dead man’s father Fortune Hamilton told Newsday his son had promised to attend a church service but instead went to visit his girlfriend when the accident occurred. Hamilton’s girlfriend lived a short distance from where he was killed. An autopsy is expected to be performed at the San Fernando General Hospital’s mortuary today. Princes Town police are continuing investigations.
