Maloney man held with vest, pistol and ammo
A 23-year-old man who was found wearing a bulletproof vest and armed with a 9 mm pistol told police officers on Friday that he was trying to protect himself from people hired to kill him. According to police reports, at about 11 am on Friday, Ag Cpl Baptiste and PCs De Leon and Hospedales of the Maloney Police Station were on enquiries at Building Eight, Maloney, when they observed a man acting in a suspicious manner. The man was searched and he was allegedly found wearing a black bulletproof vest. A Sig Sauer pistol with 11 rounds of ammunition was also found on his person. He was promptly arrested and taken to the Maloney Police Station. The man pleaded with officers telling them that a contract had been placed on his life and he was trying to protect himself. The man is on bail for robbery and related offences. He was charged with firearm offences. The same officers then went to Red Hill D’Abadie where they arrested two 35-year-old women for possession of cocaine.
