The American pilot of the private jet that was en route to Barbados and which made an unauthorised landing at Piarco International Airport last Sunday is now being investigated by Interpol Police. Investigations revealed that the pilot, who is a native of California, USA, did not have a passport and produced an expired pilot’s licence. The Federal Aviation Administration in the US, was contacted by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service to probe the pilot’s background. The pilot is now staying at a local hotel until investigations are complete. Reports revealed that the light aircraft landed at Piarco International Airport at 4 am on Sunday. The WW24 West Wing aircraft had departed Fort Lauderdale en route to Barbados, but landed in Trinidad on Sunday morning instead. The pilot told investigators that he experienced communication system failure and was also unable to contact the air traffic control centre at the Piarco International Airport. The mystery plane was repaired and was the pilot reportedly flew out of Trinidad in the plane late yesterday. Additional investigations revealed that the Civil Aviation Authority is currently looking into the matter.
