PM responds to GOPIO letter

Manning’s statement came as he responded to a letter sent by the Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO). “In your letter, you attributed to me the statement that ‘physicians of the nation were sympathetic to the Op-position and therefore not to be trusted with your health and safety”, Manning noted.

However, the Prime Minister said a reading of the Hansard Report of what he said, contained no such statement. “It is you, not I, who have sought to import the issue of race into the matter,” the PM said.
