Tishanna wins Youth of the Year award
They have been on an educational self-enhancement programme to sharpen their skills, abilities, talents, moral values, and academic performance.
As a result, the youths had to attend learning seminars on table etiquette, deportment, social graces and photography.
As part of their development exercise the youths demonstrated what they learnt at a luncheon at Cara Suites, Claxton Bay at the end of January.
Dave Alleyne, President and Pastor of the ministry has highly commended Youth Pastor Elizabeth Stewart for initiating the programme. He noted that it has greatly assisted in lifting performance and has set the youths of his ministry apart in excellence in such areas as academics, sports, music and art. According to Pastor Alleyne “parents, teachers, the nation in general is saying negative things about the youths. Our youths do not need criticism; they need to hear positive words about themselves,” he added.
Eleven-year-old Tishanna Mitchell so impressed her peers and mentors that she was honoured as the “Youth of the Year” at the Flaming Word Ministry.
Tishanna Mitchell is a student of Waterloo High School.
