TSTT joins fight against crime
In addition, all calls to emergency numbers from a cellphone will be put through, even if there is no money or SIM card on your phone.
Communications Mana-ger, Camille Salandy, made the revelation yesterday at the launch of this year’s second TSTT Walk Against Crime at the company’s Edward Street, Port-of-Spain offices.
Salandy said the decisions were taken because TSTT was mindful of individuals’ needs to equip themselves with the tools which can help the relevant authorities solve crimes.
She explained that it was no longer necessary for customers to pre-register for its call trace service, because TSTT had made it possible for anyone with a land line to activate call trace when they receive obscene or threatening phone calls.
Salandy said TSTT will then furnish investigating offices with details about where the calls originated.
Calls to emergency numbers 990 and 991 will also be free of charge and accessible
without credit and even a SIM card.
Salandy said soon more details will be revealed about its partnership with the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce, in a neighbourhood crime watch initiative.
TSTT’s Walk Against Crime will be held on Thursday from 9 am at the Queen’s Park Savannah, opposite TGIF.
Some 15,000 students from schools across the country are expected to participate.
Education Minister Hazel Manning is also expected to join the students in the walk.
TSTT will also sponsor an essay contest to allow students to share their ideas and opinions on how they see themselves making a difference in curbing crime.
