Some 30 business personnel from manufacturing companies made the trip to TT. Large crowds of buyers visit the fair daily during its 10 am to 10 pm opening hours.
One of the main attractions is a display of hand-crafted wooden furniture, living-room sets as well as dining room sets with matching sofas.
A number of young sales personnel are also participating in the fair. For Akshat Tripathi, 22, manager of GTC Udyam Limited, this is his first visit to TT.
“I was invited by my fellow business associates and I am so happy that I made the trip,” he said.
Tripathi’s store carries a wide variety of jewelry costing from $350 to $500. The sets have been gold plated to ensure durability.
Tripathi said that he loves the people of TT because they are always willing to make the purchase.
“When I explain how durable the sets are I can easily convince the buyer,” he said in his Indian accent. He also pointed out that TT has a lot of good-looking women, similar to India.
Another exhibitor, Sagar Mehta, offers exquisite saris and shalwar that can be worn at any function.
“The fashions are so made to suit the times that we live in. The beaded outfits are considered high fashions today,” he explained.
Canadian-Indian business woman Puja Batra of Abearix International has been coming to TT for the past three years to market her costume jewelry.
“I just love to come here. The people are warm and friendly and they can spot a bargain,” she said.
She has reduced her prices hoping to sell out before the fair is over. Batra was thrilled by some of her experiences here and could not believe her eyes when she saw the 80-foot tall Hanuman murti in Orange Field.
She was equally excited to visit the Temple in the sea. Paramjeet Kaur of Moiz Exports is an expert on crystal beads and jewelry. His shop which is located at the entrance at the Nagar carries many classy pieces that are reasonably priced.
