Beer run turns deadly for uncle
Joseph, of Ann Street, Carenage, had spent the night dancing, eating and having a good time with his relatives and four children at his niece’s 25th birthday.
At about 11.25 pm, the beers ran out and Joseph, 31, volunteered to purchase more at a nearby bar. He was walking toward the bar when shots were heard.
When a check was made, Joseph was found slumped on the ground. Police, who arrived shortly after the shooting, had to order weeping relatives from the scene.
District Medical Officer Dr Tom Pack viewed Joseph’s body.
Investigators, led by Snr Supt Roderick Roach, interviewed several people who may have witnessed the killing.
Natasha Schulere, Joseph’s sister, told Newsday yesterday that her brother troubled no one and had no enemies.
She believes her brother was killed because of jealousy.
“I want the police to find the person who killed my brother and bring him to justice,” said Schulere, from her Carenage home, yesterday.
Staring at a picture of her brother, Schulere said she was fed up with the crime in the country and felt that the criminals seemed to have the upper hand on the authorities.
Schulere said her brother was well liked and will be sadly missed.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau are investigating.
