Rangers bubbling with enthusiasm

Fakoory said it was a dream come true for his St Ann’s based club to be accepted into the professional ranks.

“Since the TT Pro League was introduced Superstar Rangers always wanted to be a part of it. We applied before and we were denied but we are overjoyed now that we have been accepted. “There is a renewed enthusiasm in our training sessions over the last couple of days since our guys all heard the news. We are looking forward to showcasing our youth programmes and we really want to represent our community in the best way we know how,” said Fakoory.

Superstar Rangers placed fourth in the National Super League last season.

And after Crab Connection and WASA Clean and White. who placed second and third respectively declined to enter the professional ranks, Superstar Rangers and champions Joe Public were the obvious choices for promotion.

Fakoory has admitted that financially it has been a challenge for him to promote the team in the big league.

“We are not as financially strong as the Jabloteh’s, W Connection and Joe Public but we are going to make it work. We are working with a small budget and while we will not be able to pay our players the big bucks, we had a meeting with the players explaining them that we are going out to perform to the best of our ability and we will not fail,” he said.

The San Juan businessman is optimistic that his team will do well.

He told ttproleague.com: “For one thing we don’t want to be demoted and assessing our resources I don’t see why we can’t finish in the middle of the pack among the ten clubs that will be competing.”

Fakoory said he will be fielding a youthful squad with the bulk of his Super League team coming back and he also has Marc Borde and Errol Mc Farlene who has some experience in the line-up.

“I am really feeling good about the upcoming season. I really think we can do well and give a good account of ourselves,” the Superstar Rangers boss said.
