Blaze at KFC Gulf View

KFC employee Rhonda Joseph told fire officials she poured three gallons of oil into the fryer. She said approximately 20 minutes later, there was an explosion and the fryer was on fire.

Employees tried to put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher while awaiting help from the Fire Services, which arrived on the scene and put out the flames. The cost of the damage and cause of the fire are still to be ascertained.

Efforts to reach officials at KFC’s franchise holder, Prestige Holdings Ltd, for comment yesterday proved futile.

Investigations are continuing.
