Call for a return to family values in TT
He strongly felt that family values should be placed on the front burner of matters to be taught at schools in the country as it was indeed a platform to build a a strong sense of morality that would prevent a recurrence of what transpired last week.
Dookeran was at the time invited to address the gathering following a service conducted by Pundit Ramesh Tiwari seeking divine guidance on pupils writing the SEA Examination on April 6.
The UNC Leader felt that parenting was the greatest challenge facing the nation in light of the many forces that young people have to face on a daily basis.
He said a deep sense of moral order and respect must be emphatic if the entire nation is to mould our children with the right ideals that would respect life, and provide a positive thrust in life’s journey.
He said that the violence that was erupting throughout society could be overcome by instilling proper positive virtues in the homes and communities.
He stressed, “That is why I have gotten involved once more in public life in our country, so that I can provide with my colleagues and friends and all those who are willing to join us a new order, a new opportunity, because in our country we should not be undergoing all this stress and strain and violence.”
