Plead for a day of prayer against crime
“It was a clear case that crime has come right down to the roots of the society and something must be done to regroup the nation so that safety, security and peace could once more be experienced by all those who live in this country,” according to Ashmeer Mohamed, president.
He said that as an Organi-sation “we are essentially business-oriented but we are part of the community and anything that affects people touches all of us and we are definitely bleeding inside at the intensity of this murder that has gone down as one of the worst in the history of the country,”
Mohamed said that as parents “we are all boiling with rage and are asking questionns like what is really happening? Who must take the blame? Where are we really heading? Are we failing our young people as leaders?”
The Chamber president said that “we operate a stone’s throw from Orange Valley and if they feel pain we share the agony, if they cry, we soak up the tears. Such is life.”
The Chamber is supporting any move by the country to draw attention to the depth of the incident. We should also observe a countrywide day of prayer to seek the Creator’s blessing on the country and to open the way for peace and harmony to be part of our life once again.”
The Chamber extends its sympathy to members of the bereaved family.
