Pensioner sues TSTT
Magdalene Samaroo, 66, was yesterday granted judicial review against TSTT’s alleged failure to make a decision on her request for letters from the company. The woman, who made the application under the Freedom of Information Act, contends that the letters she requested, were sent to TSTT’s board of directors by the Integrity Commission. High court judge Carlon Best yesterday granted leave to Samaroo to seek judicial review of the refusal or failure of TSTT to make the letters available to her.
Samaroo, through attorney Anand Ramlogan, filed for judicial review after TSTT failed to respond to her January 17 written request for the letters. Samaroo wants TSTT to furnish her with copies of letters which she claimed the Integrity Commission sent to TSTT stating that the telephone company is not subject to the provisions of the Integrity in Public Life Act.
Samaroo is seeking to have TSTT provide her with the information she requested free of charge and within seven days. In the lawsuit, Samaroo wants TSTT to pay all legal costs.
She is also seeking a declaration that there was an unreasonable delay by TSTT in making a decision on her request.
