The disclosure was made during a press conference at the Corbin Communications Office, Stanmore Avenue, Port-of-Spain on Thursday.

The competition will take place from April 17-22 at two venues within the capital city — the Port-of-Spain Public Courts, Princes Building Grounds and the Tranquility Courts, with matches starting at 8 am daily.

At the Public Courts, there will be fixtures in five age groups— ten-and-Under, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16 and 17-18; At Tranquility, there will be encounters in two novice categories— 14-and-under and 15-18. Delivering the feature address on Thursday was Christopher Alcazar, Group Product Manager at the Charles Candy Division.

“Each year brings with it its challenges which makes us eager to join us with the organisers of this wonderful event to ensure not only its success, but that lawn tennis on the whole finds its way into the homes and minds of our nation’s youth,” Alcazar said.

“Opportunities like this allow our youth to find within themselves fine values that would ensure their continued success in any venture,” he continued.

“Particularly this year, our sponsorship bears a high level of emotionalism, support and concern for our nation’s youth,” added Alcazar. “It’s much more than just a financial commitment, it represents our dedication to the overall development of everyone in Trinidad and Tobago.

“Through this tournament and other similar ventures, we hope to, once again, empower our future leaders by way of health competition and to promote fairness, respect and commitment.”
