Deportee held with ‘coke’

Officers of the North-Eastern Division Task Force led by Cpl Darryl La Pierre and including PCs Mackoonsingh, Mundo, Thomas, WPC Joshua and others executed a search warrant before carrying out a search for narcotics.

Cocaine weighing a half kilo was allegedly found in the house and the occupant — a deportee — was held. The man has a string of narcotic convictions and was deported from the United States after serving time.

He has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and is expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate today. The same officers also carried out searches in San Juan and arrested three other persons for narcotic offences.
