Homer splashes to gold at CARIFTA

During the evening’s proceedings, Trinidad and Tobago earned 11 medals — two gold, five silver and six bronze.

In the Boys’ 13-14 200m IM, Homer was a comfortable winner in two minutes 20.67 seconds, with Romany following in 2:21.72.

TT’s other gold medal performance came in the Boys’ 15-17 4x200m freestyle relay, with the quartet of Jules Graham, Jonn Ross Andrews, Andre Schamber and Jarryd Gregoire completing the distance in eight minutes 23.37 seconds. Besides Romany, the other individual silver medal feats for TT came courtesy Kadeja Phillip, who clocked 2:43.31 in the Girls’ 11-12 200m IM; and Ryan Rigues, 33.35 in the Boys’ 13-14 50m breaststroke.

TT also got silver from the Boys’ 13-14 4x200m freestyle relay team of Homer, Jevon Joseph, Rigues and Romany (8:47.05); and the Girls’ 15-17 4x200m relay foursome of Raenelle Carillo, Chantal Redon, Dayna Jacob and Kimba Collymore (9:27.48).

Gregoire got two bronze medals, in the Boys’ 15-17 200m butterfly (2:16.88) and 200m IM (2:18.31) while Romany was third in the Boys’ 13-14 100m freestyle (57.02).

Other bronze medallists were Makayla Armstrong in the Girls’ 11-12 200m butterfly (2:50.25); Samantha Rahael in the Girls’ 13-14 200m butterfly (2:39.63) and the Girls’ 13-14 4x200m relay squad of Shanice Mohammed, Nathania La Pierre, Malika Walker and Rahael (9:38.43).
