VIPs on fast ferry to Tobago

Heading the list of dignitaries were President George Maxwell Richards and First Lady Dr Jean Richards — who travelled to Tobago on the 1 pm sailing of the Lynx on Thursday.

The President and his entourage were welcomed by the CEO/GM (Ag) of the Port Authority, Christopher Men-dez; Executive Manager of the Government Shipping Service, Leon Grant; and Public Relations Manager — Betty Ann Gibbons. On board Captain Shea also welcomed the presidential party.

Later that day, Dr Keith Rowley, Minister of Housing, travelled to Tobago aboard the 5 pm sailing of The Cat. Also on the 10.30 am sailing of The Cat, Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday and Mrs Panday and their family and friends were on their way to enjoy the Easter in Tobago.

On Good Friday Minister of Works and Transport, Colm Imbert and his family chose to travel to Tobago aboard the Lynx on the 6.30 am sailing from Trinidad. They were also greeted by the CEO and Executive Manager of the service and welcomed aboard by the captain.

The inter-island ferry service between Trinidad and Tobago has grown in popularity, especially with the arrival of the fast ferries. The number of persons (with their families) travelling on the seabridge has grown considerably with many persons now viewing the ferry service as an enjoyable and relaxing option for travel between the islands.
