Bombers, Spring Village in ‘semis’
First Bombers dismissed AYG for 50 with Wendell Samuel topscoring in the small total with ten runs.
Manideo Boodram led the demolition of AYG when he took three wickets for 18 runs, and then he watched his batsmen pile on the runs in the win.
Richard Ali led with the bat with 18 and Kevin Rampersad made 11.
In another quarter-final encounter Spring Village Sports triumphed over Sunrise Youths by three wickets.
In what was a low scoring affair Spring Village Sports easily cruised past the target made by their opponents. Sunrise were bowled out for 44 in 14.3 overs following Terrance Rampersad’s four wickets for 12 runs.
In that total Machismo Bocas stood out with 15 runs. In response Spring Village made 48 for the loss of seven in 14.1 overs.
The win came courtesy a hard-fought 16 from Clement Neeranjan.
World XI also made it to the big four of the Bamboo Settlement Cricket League when they destroyed Road Runners by five wickets.
Shazam Hosein lashed 19 to lead the World XI to 54 for five in 12.5 overs. His knock came after the Road Runners made 53 for eight in their allotted 15 overs.
Rohan Parsan made 14 in the losing effort for the Road Runners but would have to wait until next year to have another crack at the Bamboo League.
Stag STS Winners also booked a place into the “semis” at the expense of Bamboo All Stars by 15 runs.
The STS Winners batted first and tallied 75 for four in the mandatory 15 overs thanks to Sheldon Balroop knock of 23.
Avian Mejias remained unbeaten on 15 and Jerry Beckles finished not out on 12.
Bamboo responded with ten from Fardeen Ali in guiding them to 60 all out in 14.4 overs.
Balroop was the chief destroyer with the ball for the STS Winners bagging three wickets for ten runs.
