Mixed fortunes for Digicel, TSTT

In a statement yesterday, Digicel said thousands of its phones were “flying out the door” at all of its stores nationwide and it was supplying “tens of thousands of phones” to replace them. During the course of the day, reports reached Newsday that mobile phones were sold out at several Digicel stores.

Digicel (TT) distribution director John Collins said the company was pleased that its mobile phone sales in TT were going well and its promotions will continue. “We believe in bringing the best choice of phones at the best prices on a regular basis,” he stated.

However the news was not so rosy for TSTT yesterday. In a statement, the company informed the public that several mobile phone sites in East Trinidad were temporarily down.

The sites identified were Matura, Balandra, Toco, L’Anse Noire, Sans Souci, Matelot and Morne Carbrite.

TSTT apologised to customers for any inconvenience caused by this situation and assured them that service would be restored in the shortest possible time.
