Bush fire KO’s chemical toilets
According to a fire official, at about 1 pm, a raging bush fire along the banks of the Cipero River, Cross Crossing, reportedly spread to the PDL warehouse at Rodriguez Avenue.
The fire, according to a fire report, completely destroyed the company’s holding bay, along with several disposable toilet units.
Workers on the compound attempted to put the blaze out but were forced to call in firefighters, as the blaze became uncontrollable.
Fire appliances from the Mon Repos Fire Station responded and were able to extinguish the blaze, preventing further extensive damage .
PDL’s manager, Roy Samuel, was on the scene but could not give an estimate of the damage. Company owner, Robert Taylor, is said to be out of the country. Investigations are continuing.
