A 40-YEAR-OLD Fyzabad mother of one, was fatally shot inside a Point Fortin bar when she answered a call on her cellular phone, while three bandits were in the process of robbing the bar on Sunday night.

According to police reports, at about 11 pm, the three bandits — one armed with a gun — entered the bar, and according to the report, Montrose was sitting at a table with friends.

As the gunman pointed his weapon at the patrons in the bar, sources said, a cell phone rang. Police investigators told Newsday when Montrose reached for her phone and placed it to her ear, the armed bandit fired at her.

The bullet struck Montrose in the forehead and as she slumped to the floor, the bandits fled the scene.

A report was made to the police and Montrose was taken to the Point Fortin Area Hospital where she died while undergoing emergency surgery.

Her body was removed to the San Fernando mortuary and was yesterday taken to the Forensic Science Centre in St James where efforts were being made to have an autopsy carried out to officially ascertain cause of death.
