Students enjoy Sebucan festival
In the process of singing and dancing the Maypole, the students created – according to their own abilities – striking patterns, complicated weaves and motifs that fascinated the uninitiated.
The Maypole Fiesta was witnessed by Education Minister Hazel Manning, Gilberto Jaime, Cultural Attach? of the Venezuelan Embassy; Councillor Richardo Bharat, President of the Carib Community; Clarence Moe of the National Carnival Commission and scores of villagers at the transformed Sisters Road Community Facility at New Grant. Students of the Moruga Composite School — Los Paranderos Picantes — provided entertainment from their award winning Parang repertoire. The Sebucan was sponsored by the Ministry of Education
