TV cameraman, family robbed

The incident occurred at about 8.45 pm at Mungal Street off Dookiesingh Street in St Augustine, while Toolsie was with his wife Sherry and their two daughters. Mrs Toolsie told Newsday she had just alighted from their Ford Ranger van and was walking away when she heard screaming.

Sherry said she looked back and saw a masked man holding a knife to her 16-year-old daughter’s throat. The man was pulling her daughter out of the vehicle. She said another man was pointing a gun at her husband, who was also sitting in the van.

Sherry said she ran back to the van and pulled her children out the vehicle. The bandit managed, she said, to pushed Toolsie out of the van and onto the roadway. The bandits took cash and jewelry from Toolsie then jumped into the van and sped away. In the van were Toolsie’s video camera and equipment. Total value of the items stolen was over $250,000.

“Everything happened in about two or three minutes,” the shaken woman said. Her daughter sustained a small cut to the throat where the bandit had held the knife.

Newsday was told that a person contacted the IETV media station after finding Toolsie’s wallet at PriceSmart in Chaguanas.

No arrests have been made and St Joseph Police are investigating.
