Sean Luke murder inquiry
MAGISTRATE Marcia Ayres-Caesar yesterday warned members of the media not to report certain aspects of the court inquiry into the murder of six-year-old Sean Luke. Defence and State attorneys who appeared in the matter in the Couva Magistrates’ Court, made certain legal submissions before magistrate Ayres-Caesar.
The magistrate ordered members of the media to vacate the courtroom and ten minutes later, reporters were called back into the courtroom and asked to stand before her.
The magistrate said certain applications and submissons were made by the attorneys that were of an extremely sensitive nature.
The 16-year-old accused was represented for the first time by an attorney — Celeste Jules. The other accused — a 13-year-old — was represented by Wayne Sturge. Yesterday was the fifth court appearance for both accused. Deputy Director of Public Prosecution Roger Gaspard, told magistrate Ayres-Caesar the State was ready to proceed with the matter.
However, Jules requested time to familiarise herself with the case. The matter was adjourned to June 6.
