New electricity rates to be announced today
RIC chairman Dennis Pantin was tight-lipped yesterday on the contents of the final document which will be released today.
Asked whether the rates to be announced today by the RIC will find favour with the population, Pantin said he believed they would.
Meanwhile, TTEC communications manager Dennis McComie said the company had no idea what was contained in the RIC final document. He said TTEC made several recommendations to the RIC and would have to carefully study the Commission’s final document.
In presenting the draft RIC proposals earlier this year, Pantin steered clear of saying whether or not domestic or commercial electricity rates would be increased. He hinted that any electricity hike would be short-term and it was possible that rates could be lowered over the next couple of years.
Pantin added Government had its role to play and that efforts should be made to ensure that individual consumers were protected as much as possible from any increase in electricity rates.
