Digicel limits phone sales
Checks with several Digicel stores in Port-of-Spain revealed that a directive had been sent from the company’s offices in Port-of-Spain to restrict the sales of mobile phones to one per customer. Staff at two stores indicated that this was being done because of the high demand for mobile phones in the country and to ensure that there were enough phones to meet the population’s demands. They denied that the limit was because persons were buying large numbers of cell phones to resell, as some Digicel staff have told the public.
Meanwhile, officials at some TSTT bmobile stores in Port-of-Spain said they had no such restrictions on the sale of their mobile phones and it was possible for someone to purchase more than one cell phone at the same time.
