Kidnapping accused get bail

Richard “Chinee” Kirton and Jason Joseph, who are jointly charged with Sheldon “Skelly” Lovell, Shawn “Gumbo” Vincent and Brent “Small Brent” Danglade with the kidnapping of Curepe businessman Dennis Persad-Jodhan, were granted bail by Justice Larry Lalla.

The five men will reappear in court on June 26, when the trial is expected to begin.

Lovell, Vincent and Danglade are also charged with Persad-Jodhan’s murder. That trial will commence before Madame Justice Alice Yorke-Soo Hon at the Port-of-Spain First Criminal Court on June 16.

Persad-Jodhan was snatched outside his business place on December 23, 2002 outside Dumplin’s Mini Mart in Curepe. His body was found two days later at Aranjuez.
